ONEONTA — Madeline Reilly of Pittsford is one of 60 SUNY Oneonta students studying abroad this semester. Reilly, a junior majoring in Business Economics, is studying at Florence University of the Arts in Italy.

SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan through the Office of International Education, plus a variety of short-term, faculty-led programs throughout the year. Oneonta students also have access to more than 600 study abroad and exchange programs through the SUNY network.

To increase access to study abroad opportunities, SUNY Oneonta has established seven scholarships to support students who might not otherwise have the financial means to study abroad. Made possible through gifts from alumni, faculty, staff and community members, the College at Oneonta Foundation 30th Anniversary Scholarship, Bill and Khuki Woolever Scholarship, Dr. Warren and Mrs. Rita Wellman Scholarship, Gary and Pamela Tutty Study Abroad Scholarship, Global Connectedness Fund Scholarship, Martha and Joseph Forgiano Fund for International Travel Scholarship and Carrie Krumholtz-Liebman ’92 Scholarship are available to qualifying students each semester.

Scholarships and Global Connectedness were two of four campaign priorities for the SUNY Oneonta Foundation’s Possibilities Full of Promise campaign, which raised $13.6 million for student scholarships and travel, and faculty development.

A liberal arts institution with a strong focus on undergraduate research and service learning, SUNY Oneonta consistently gains recognition for delivering excellence and value. The college has been named to Kiplinger’s list of “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” for 10 years running and sits at No. 12 on the 2017 U.S. News and World Report list of the best public institutions in the region. SUNY Oneonta enrolls 6,000 students in its 70 undergraduate majors and 14 graduate programs.
