EDISON, N.J. – Freshman first baseman Peter Battaglia was named MAAC Rookie of the Week announced on Tuesday. This is the second time this season Battaglia has earned Rookie of the Week honors.
In Niagara’s series against Monmouth April 22-23, Battaglia recorded a team-high six RBI and also had four hits. Battaglia had one or more hit and one or more RBI in each game of the series.
Battaglia, who is fourth in the MAAC in RBI, finished the week batting .400.
The Purple Eagles are back in action on Wednesday when they host crosstown rival Canisius at Sal Maglie Stadium, site of the 2017 MAAC Championships, at 4 p.m.
