WILLIAMSVILLE — The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team won their fourth straight match on Friday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Eastern Michigan 6-1.  The victory clinched a spot in the upcoming Mid-American Conference tournament for UB.

The Bulls won the doubles point on Senior Day as senior Margarita Kotok and junior Tanja Stojanovska won at first doubles 6-2.  Buffalo then clinched the point at two as freshman Anna Savchenko and sophomore Chantal Martinez Blanco overcame an early deficit to win 6-4.

UB won five of the six matches in singles action beginning at five as sophomore Mercedes Losada Rubio won easily, 6-0, 6-2.  Stojanovska then won at one with a 6-3, 6-0 win and the Bulls clinched at six as sophomore Sanjana Sudhir won 6-1, 6-3.

Freshman Emel Abibula gave the Bulls the 5-0 lead with a 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 win at three before the Eagles got on the board at four.  Martinez Blanco was the last one on court and she won a thriller at two as she won the first 6-2 before losing the second in a tiebreaker.  She then came back to win a tight super tiebreaker, 13-11.

The Bulls will conclude the regular season on Sunday at Toledo.  A win would clinch the #3 seed in the upcoming tournament for Buffalo.
