LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Niagara women’s golf team carded a 340 (+52) and is in seventh place after the first round of the MAAC Championships on Friday. It was a close day of competition to open the tournament, with only two strokes separating fifth and seventh places.

“We didn’t show our best stuff out there today, but we really hung in there,” said head coach Jason Polka. “With some solid play tomorrow, there’s no reason we can’t jump a few teams.”

Selena Cerra and Emily Doyle led Niagara. Both carded an 83 (+11) in round one and are in a four-way tie for 16th place.

Daniella Hopper is tied for 22nd. Hopper shot 85 (+13) in the first round.

Sarah Godfrey carded an 89 (+17) and is tied for 34th place and Marissa Del Monaco shot 90 (+18) and is in 37th place.

The team will play the second round of the tournament on Saturday, April 22 and the third and final round on Sunday, April 23.
