BINGHAMTON — An extended layoff did nothing to cool down the University at Buffalo men’s tennis team as the Bulls remained perfect in Mid-American Conference play with a 6-1 victory at Binghamton on Wednesday afternoon.  This was UB’s first match in 17 days as the Bulls improved to 10-5 and 5-0 in the MAC.

The match began outdoors where the Bulls took the doubles point following a victory at two as Villhelm Fridell and Petr Vodak came away with a 6-1 victory.  UB then clinched the point at three with a 6-4 victory from Tony Miller and Ethan Nittolo.

Following doubles play, the rain began to fall and singles was moved indoors.  The Bulls won five of the six matches in singles beginning at three where Filip Grbic won 7-5, 6-1 and first singles where freshman Hao Sheng Koay won easily, 6-0, 6-1.  The Bearcats then won at four, but the Bulls still led 3-1 in the match.

Vidit Vaghela clinched the match for Buffalo at second singles with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win and then Vodak won at five, 6-3, 6-1 before Nittolo closed out the contest with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win at six.

The Bulls will close out the regular season with a pair of matches at home this weekend, the first time they will play in Western New York since February.  Buffalo will host Ball State on Friday afternoon as part of a doubleheader with the women’s tennis team.  The match will begin around 3pm if the matches are held outdoors and will begin at 4pm should the matches be held indoors.
