LORETTO, Pa. – The Niagara women’s golf team defeated Saint Francis University for the first time in program history in a dual match on Thursday. The Purple Eagles team carded a 323 (+39), while the Red Flash carded a 328 (+44).
“I’m so proud of how our team played today,” said head coach Jason Polka. “They played much better golf and proved to themselves that they are very capable of competing. This was a wonderful way to end our regular season.”
Emily Doyle led Niagara, firing a 78 (+7). Sarah Godfrey also had a great day on the course, carding a 79 (+8).
Marissa Del Monaco carded an 82 (+11), Selena Cerra shot 84 (+13) and Daniella Hopper shot 85 (+14).
Doyle, Godfrey, Del Monaco and Cerra’s scores were counted toward the final team score.
Three Purple Eagles competed as individuals. Samantha Bernardo carded a 91 (+20), Britteny Purcell shot 93 (+22) and Allison Emborsky carded a 108 (+37).
The Purple Eagles take the course next for the MAAC Championships April 21-23 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.
