MIAMI, Fla. – The University at Buffalo track and field team finished day one of the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Friday. The Bulls finished with four Top-Five finishes at the end of day one.
Selina Von Jackowski and Martine Bye had amazing performances in the women’s heptathlon. Von Jackowski kicked off competition with coming in first in the 100HH with a time of 13.92, garnering 990 points. She also took first in the 200m dash with a time of 24.71 to gain an additional 914 points. Von Jackowski currently sits in third with 3023 total points. Directly behind her is teammate Martine Bye. Bye took first in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.68m or 5′ 6″ to gain 830 points. Bye also took first in the shot put portion of the heptathlon. Bye threw for a distance of 12.42m to add 689 points. Bye currently sits in fourth with 2968 total points. Von Jackowski and Bye will finish the heptathlon tomorrow with the long jump, javelin, and 800m.
Miranda Daucher also had a great performance in the field events. Daucher threw to a distance of 51.59m in the hammer throw for fourth place. Not far behind were teammate Megan Patterson and Mckenzie Kuehlewind. Patterson threw a distance of 5061m for sixth, and Kuehlewind threw a distance of 50.29m for eighth.
Laurent Dure also had a great performance. Dure placed fifth in the men’s high jump after clearing at 1.95m.
The Bulls will finish up at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invite on Saturday. The first event is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s long jump portion of the heptathlon.
