ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Niagara women’s golf team completed the first round of the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday. The team shot 363 (+75) and is in 11th place after the first 18 holes.

“It was a very difficult day with the length of the course and the cold wind,” said head coach Jason Polka. “We are looking to improve tomorrow.”

Senior Selena Cerra led Niagara, firing an 88 (+16) in round one. She is currently tied for 38th place.

Daniella Hopper finished round one tied for 43rd. She carded an 89 (+17). Emily Doyle, who shot 91 (+19) is tied for 50th place.

Britteny Purcell and Samantha Bernardo are in 59th and 63rd place, respectively. Purcell carded a 95 (+23) and Bernardo shot 108 (+35).

The Purple Eagles will play the second round of the12 team invitational on Sunday, April 9 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
