Our beautiful Mom has passed with the same laughter on her lips and kindness in her heart that she shared throughout her life. Judith Lee (Judson) James quietly passed away on March 26, surrounded by her loving children while under the care of Hospice. Her generous spirit shows through with her donation of her body to the UB School of Medicine. She fought a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s Disease for the last eighteen years of her life.

Mom has now joined her husband Ralph (Pete) James; mother, Eleanor (Welch) Judson; and father, Clemence (Uke) Judson. She was also the sister of Karen (Malcolm) McElwain of Santa Barbara, CA; mother of Jackie (Troy) Judson Milne of Rochester; Kathleen (John) Hendricks of Lockport; and Kevin (Kelly) James of East Amherst. She was Grandma Judy to seven grandchildren; Alexander Westgate; Allison and Carli Milne; Tyler and Justin Hendricks; and Gregory and Jocelyn James. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Judy was born on January 6, 1939. She graduated from Lockport High School in 1957 and lived in Lockport her entire life. She worked at several places before staying home to raise her family. After her family was grown, she worked for S.S. Gooding and Lockport Housing Authority where she retired in 1998.

Judy will be remembered for her unconditional love of family, generosity towards others, perseverance, and love of reading, gardening, traveling and tennis in her younger years.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Niagara Hospice House in Judy’s memory.

The family will be present on Saturday, April 1st from 4-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 17th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Please feel free to wear bright colored clothing as Judy wanted a festive celebration of her life.
