ITHACA — Robert Liebel (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) won the 200-meter dash and Ronni Kordrupel (East Aurora/Iroquois) set a school mark in the 800-meter run as Buffalo State used the ECAC Championships as a last chance meet for a handful of athletes this weekend at Ithaca College.

Buffalo State sent a select group of athletes to the ECAC Championships looking to better their chances at qualifying for next week’s NCAA Championships. Liebel posted the Bengals top finish, capturing an ECAC title in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28 seconds. Cody Sikora (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) also scored points on the men’s side, placing fourth in the 400-meter dash, clocking 49.57 seconds. Four Buffalo State women scored points in the meet. Kordrupel was third in the 800-meter dash with a school-record time of 2:16.40. Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) placed in a pair of events, finishing fourth in the long jump (5.46m) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (25.87). Catarra Burroughs (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) crossed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.91 seconds and matched her season-best time in the prelims, clocking 7.83 seconds. Cheila Diao (Latham/Shaker) also scored in the weight throw, placing eighth with a mark of 14.37 meters.

Buffalo State will now wait on the selections for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Naperville, Ill. on March 10 and 11.
