BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo has named Megan Burns and Joshua Gali as its Athletes of the Week.

Burns had an outstanding performance for at MAC Championships for the third year in a row. Burns took home the gold in three individual events, and two relay events. Burns remained undefeated in the 50 Free at MAC Championships when she took home the gold with a time of 22.04. Her time broke the school, meet, and MAC record. Her time of 48.14 in the 100 Free broke the school record and earned her first place. Burns also took gold in the 200 Free with a time of 1:46.07. Burns was also a member of the gold winning 200 Free Relay and 800 Free Relay teams. Burns helped her team clock in at 1:29.97 in the 200 Free Relay and 7:11.26 in the 800 Free Relay, both new school records. The time in the 800 Free Relay is also a meet and conference record time. Burns golds help lead her team to a highest overall placing (third place) in program history.

Gali was a star for Buffalo at the 2017 Indoor MAC Championships, earning three gold medals and named Most Outstanding Track Athlete. Gali blew his competition away in the 200m clocking in at 21.39, nearly one second faster than the second place finish. His time of 47.50 in the 400m also earned him a first place finish. Gali shone through on the 4X400 relay. He was able to surge to an enormous lead for the team, and help bring home the gold with an overall time of 3:17.61. Gali’s golds helped lead his team to a highest overall finish in program history, third place.
