The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is up one penny from last week at $2.29 per gallon, 55 cents more than a year ago. The New York State average is $2.46 per gallon, down a penny from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $1.94.

Locally, however, gas prices are bucking the trend with the cost of a gallon of gas at $2.42 in Buffalo and $2.37 in Rochester — both down one cent and below the state average, according to AAA of Western and Central New York.

New York State remains on the “Top 10 Most Expensive Average Gas Prices” list at number nine.
