BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo women’s swimming and diving team is off to Miami of Ohio to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships. The Bulls have had an extremely successful season so far, and are hoping to carry that success into the conference finals. The championships start at Wednesday at 7 p.m. with the 200 Medley Relay; and will run until Saturday.
The women had four individual champions and one relay champion at last year’s MAC Championships. Megan Burns, Sarah Baxter, and Kerry Giovanniello are the only returning MAC Champions from last year. Burns won two individual titles (50 Free and 100 Free), and was a member of the 800 Free Relay Team. Baxter, Jessica Powers, Giovannielo, and Burns were able to swim to a conference title in the relay event. Burns, Baxter, and Hannah Miller were named to All-MAC Teams. Burns was named First-Team, while Baxter and Miller were named Second-Team.
As a team, the women finished fourth at the 2016 MAC Championships. The Bulls are hoping to have an even more successful performance at the Mid-American Championships this year.
