BUFFALO — The Niagara Purple Eagles’ swimming and diving teams capped off the 2017 MAAC Championships Saturday night at the Burt Flickinger Center. The women’s team broke two school records and was able to leap Fairfield University on the final day, earning a fifth-place finish with 328 points. The Niagara men held sixth place throughout Saturday and finished the championships with 324 points.

Sydney Kligys, Annie Eckhardt, Julia Casolo, and Kristen Suarez gave Niagara another relay record at the championships, swimming a 3:33.45 in the 400 free relay. Freshman Hannah Charlton also improved upon her school record in the 200 fly. After breaking the record for the first time at the Zippy Invitational in December, Charlton lowered her career-best time further to 2:08.78 to take third in the MAAC finals.
