Buffalo State’s Connor Mergler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) was named the SUNYAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week after excelling in the Bengals’ final regular-season meet.

The junior business major captured three individual events and swam a leg of a winning relay as Buffalo State defeated Brockport in a dual meet on Saturday. Mergler won the 100 back (55.53), the 50 free (21.27) and the 100 free (47.23). He also led off the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:41.69.

Buffalo State finished the regular season 4-2 in dual meets, posting a winning record for the first times since 2006-07.  The Bengals are now gearing up for the SUNYAC Championships on Feb. 15-18 at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo.  Mergler is the reigning SUNYAC Championship Swimmer of the Meet as winner of the 50, 100 and 200 free events.
