BUFFALO — Buffalo State’s Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) was named the SUNYAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after her performance in the Bengals’ opening season meet at the Houghton Highlanders Invitational this past weekend.

Holmes was a winner in the long jump to highlight the docket for Buffalo State in its indoor track and field opener.  Holmes posted the 16th-best mark in Division III so far this season at 5.44 meters to win the long jump at the event.  She also placed fourth in the 300-meter dash (42.76).

The Bengals will compete next Friday at the Dr. William Taraschke Classic at Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio.  The meet is set to start at 4 p.m.
