HOUGHTON — Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) was a winner in the long jump to highlight the docket for Buffalo State in its indoor track and field opening meet today at the Houghton Highlanders Invitational.

Holmes posted the 12th-best mark in Division III so far this season at 5.44 meters to win the long jump.  She also placed fourth in the 300-meter dash (42.76). Ronni Kordrupel (East Aurora/Iroquois) was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.07.  Kordrupel also teamed up with Kayla McLean (Westbburg/Hicksville), Brittney Higgs (Buffalo/Olmstead #156) and Ashley Lyons (Freeport/Freeport) to place second in the 4×400-meter relay (4:16.27). Catarra Burroughs (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) was fifth in the 300-meter dash (43.05), and freshman Brianna Mayo (New York/Fashion Industries) finished fifth in the triple jump (10.14m).

Buffalo State will compete next Friday at the Dr. William Taraschke Classic at Baldwin Wallace.
