ITHACA — The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team opened their spring schedule on Thursday, falling 6-1 to Cornell. The Bulls picked up the doubles point, earning a pair of wins in doubles play.
UB began the day with an early 1-0 lead as they won as second doubles as the team of Hao Sheng Koay and Vidit Vaghela won set second doubles, 6-3, and the third doubles team of Tony Miller and Ethan Nittolo won 6-4.
Cornell won all six matches in singles, but the Bulls were able to force a three set match at fifth singles as Villhelm Fridell won his opening set 6-4 before dropping the final two sets by identical 6-2 scores. Vaghela played at number one singles in his UB dual debut, forcing a tiebreaker in the second set.
The Bulls will continue their run through the Ivy League on Saturday when they face Yale at 1 p.m.
