BUFFALO — Canisius junior Rebecca Anthone won three individual events leading the Griffs to a sweep of Gannon University, with the women winning 117-77 and the men getting a 111-91 victory Saturday from the Koessler Athletic Center.

The meet began with the team of freshman Alize Allen, sophomore Cassie Brousseau, senior Hannah Graesser and senior Marissa Watroba taking first place in the women’s 200 medley relay, while junior Dan Dirrigl, senior Cam MacDonald, junior Greg Staebell and senior Christian Westermeier won in the same event for the men.

Brosseau would go on to win the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.06), while teammates Graesser (50-yard freestyle: 24.95) and Watroba (400 IM: 4:46.69) also won individual events. Dirrigl won the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.36), with Staebell winning the 400-yard IM in 4:22.51 and the 200 yard backstroke 1:58.76.

Anthone, who had wins in the 100 (54.81) and 1000 (10:53.72) freestyle events, garnered the most individual wins on the women’s side.

Other winners from the day included sophomore James Pokornowski in the men’s 500 (4:55.17) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:08.77), sophomore Marissa Dirienzo in the women’s 200 yard freestyle (1:58.94), senior Gustavo Dos Santos in the 200-yard freestyle, junior Meghan Tyler in the 200-yard butterfly 2:16.87.
