BELMONT — A 19-year-old Belmont man was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to Old State Route 19 near the Belvidere Restaurant for a 911 call of an unknown problem. A vehicle was located leaving the immediate area. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator, Kyle Layman, was determined to be intoxicated. He was taken to the Amity Troopers barracks and found to have a .22 percent blood alcohol content. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle he was operating had been taken from the area of the Belvidere without the owner’s consent. Layman was also operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

Layman was arraigned before the Town of Friendship Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail/$10,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear before the Town of Amity Court on Jan. 11.
