EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Buffalo Bills offensive troubles against the Jets Sunday afternoon consistently put the defense in a tough spot en route to a 30-10 loss.

The Bills league-leading rushing attack managed just 68 yards on 28 carries for their lowest yards per carry average of the season (2.4). LeSean McCoy, going into the game with hopes of 1,300 yards on the season left early with an ankle injury in the first half and never returned to the game. He had just 10 yards on five carries.

The Bills fumbled away a possible league record as they came into the game with just 9 turnovers, hoping to come in below the league record of 10 for a season. A pair of fumbles and an interception let that potential record slip away. The Jets scored 13 points off those turnovers and added seven more when Buffalo failed to field a kickoff in their own end zone that went for a New York touchdown — essentially allowing for a 70-yard onside kick recovery by the Jets.

Starting quarterback EJ Manuel was largely ineffective, completing less than half of his pass attempts as he missed some open targets, including Charles Clayin the end zone on one first half drive. He also fumbled on a sack that led to a Jets touchdown. Manuel was benched after the third quarter and replaced by Cardale Jones, who went 6 for 11 passing for 96 yards and an interception.

The loss dropped the Bills to 7-9, their first losing season in three years.
