AKRON, Ohio – The Purple Eagles men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams completed the second of three days at the Zippy Invitational on Saturday. The women’s team remained in eighth place out of 10 teams, with a two-day total of 217 points. The Niagara men also remained in seventh place out of eight teams, with a two-day total of 401 points.

Day Two Results: Men’s Team

The men’s 200 medley relay team of Christopher Fritschi, Nicolas Winograd, Matthew Ricks, and Andrew Wilson took 12th place with a time of 1:36.30. Andreas Rintel swam his fastest time of the season in the 400 IM, finishing with a time of 4:15.28. Shawn Warner led the Purple Eagles in the men’s 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 50.01. James Crumm led Niagara with an 18th-place finish with a time of 1:43.69, his best of the season. In the finals of the men’s 100 breaststroke, Andreas Rintel (58.82) and Nicolas Winograd (59.11) both swam the fastest times this season by a Purple Eagle in that event. Matthew Ricks beat his previous season-best time in the 100 backstroke by three seconds, swimming a 54.22. In the 800 free relay, Niagara was led by the team of Shawn Warner, Daniel Leskowicz, Andreas Rintel, and James Crumm, who swam a 6:56.94 to earn a ninth-place finish.

Day Two Results: Women’s Team

The Niagara women were led in the 200 medley relay by the team of Sydney Kligys, Bridgette Ehrmann, Julia Casolo, and Kristen Suarez, who finished 13th with a time of 1:48.09. Kligys (56.99), Casolo (57.29), and Hannah Charlton (58.14) all posted season-low times in the 100 butterfly finals. Lauren Nicastro, Charlton, Brianna Smith, and Angelica Gordon teamed up for the 800 free relay, earning a time of 8:17.54.
