The Canisius College cross country program completed its season this afternoon, running in the ECAC/IC4A championship from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

In the men’s IC4A University 8k event, sophomore Josh Sopchak finished in 48th place with a time of 27:12. Fellow sophomore Brandon Williams placed 80th at 27:42, while Patrick Crowley also cracked the top 100 with a time of 27:42.

In the women’s ECAC University event, junior Carlin Sullivan placed 42nd with a time of 19:41, while freshman Justyna Wilkinson finished in 63rd place at 20:03. Junior Livia Chase and sophomore Katie Simon also finished the 6k in under 21 minutes with times of 20:54 and 20:57 respectively.

“Carlin and Josh ran well for us up front, and our packs did a nice job focusing on tightening the compression through the scoring five,” said head coach Nate Huckle. “It was a good opportunity for our younger runners to step in and perform as the scoring team, and a great way to close out our successful season.”

Overall, the Griffs placed 14th in the women’s race with 432 points, while the men placed 15th with 415 total points.

With the conclusion of the cross country campaign, the Griffs will now set there sights on the indoor track season which begins in January.
