POTSDAM — Buffalo State outshot host Potsdam, 31-17, but dropped a 3-0 decision for its first defeat of the season today in an ECAC West contest.

Buffalo State outshot the Bears 22-13 over the opening 40 minutes, but trailed 1-0 after two periods of play.  Potsdam’s goal came just 1:45 into the middle frame. The Bengals sent nine more shots on goal in the final stanza, but could not break through, and the Bears scored twice on just four shots.
Potsdam tallied an insurance marker with less than four minutes remaining, and then added an empty-netter in the final minute. Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 14 saves.

Amanda Peterson scored twice for Potsdam, and Karina Villalobos also scored. Jaci Morr had two assists. Nicole Whitesell made 31 saves for the shutout.

Buffalo State will host No. 3 Elmira for a two-game set next Friday and Saturday.
