NIAGARA UNIV. — On Sunday morning, the Purple Eagles swimming and diving teams squared off with the Colgate Raiders in their second home meet of the weekend. The Niagara men swept all 13 of their events in a commanding 157-78 win over the Raiders. Haily Atkins, Julia Casolo, and Kristen Suarez picked up individual wins on the women’s side, and the two also helped Niagara to a 200 medley relay win, in a 139-97 loss to Colgate.

Alexander Pizzo, Shawn Warner and JaRon Williams led the way for Niagara men with two individual wins each. Warner took first in the 200 IM (1:54.23) and the 100 butterfly (51.82). In the 200 IM, Warner was followed by Andreas Rintel in 1:57.68 and Nicolas Winograd in 1:58.07 to give Niagara a 1-2-3 finish. Williams swept the diving events, scoring a 297.68 in the 3-meter dive and a 259.50 in the 1-meter dive. Noah Barnard took second in both events with scores of 232.28 in the 3-meter dive and 233.55 in the 1-meter dive. Pizzo earned a 500 free victory for the second straight day, leading Sunday’s dual meet with a time of 4:51.20. He also won the 200 free in 1:46.09. Daniel Ronen (10:10.48) and Justin Sagasta (10:23.88) went 1-2 in the 1000 free. Robert Brown won the 50 free in 21.82 for Niagara, followed by Nick Rogers (22.77) in third place and Andrew Wilson (22.99) in fourth. James Crumm earned a win in the 100 free with a time of 48.20, while Andreas Rintel led the way in the 100 backstroke at 55.27, and Winograd won the 100 breaststroke in 59.88. Christopher Fristchi, Winograd, Wilson, and Warner won the 200 medley relay in 1:37.82. Brown, Rogers, Wilson, and Winograd teamed up for the 200 free relay and took first with a time of 1:28.18.

On the women’s side of things, Julia Casolo earned her fourth 100 butterfly win in five meets this year with a season-best time of 58.32. Casolo won the 100 butterfly at the 2016 MAAC Championships with a time of 57.35. Kristen Suarez led the way in the 50 free with a time of 25.15. Niagara also took third in that event as Annie Eckhardt swam a 25.87. Casolo and Suarez swam with Sydney Kligys and Bridgette Ehrmann to take the top time in the 200 medley relay at 1:51.54.
On the diving board, Haily Atkins earned the top score in the 3-meter dive at 209.18. Her 206.55 in the 1-meter dive was narrowly behind Colgate’s Austin Anderson’s score of 206.70. Casolo also led Niagara in the 200 free with a third-place time of 2:01.35, followed by Lauren Nicastro (2:03.69) in fourth and Brianna Smith (2:07.80) in fifth. Kligys took a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:16.41) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.86). Niagara went 2-3-4 in the 100 free with Eckhardt (56.45) leading the team, followed by Marlane Hochgraf (57.10) and Hannah Charlton (58.27).
Bridgette Ehrmann finished second with a time of 1:12.48 in the 100 breaststroke.

The next event for the Purple Eagles is the Zippy Invite, hosted by the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio from Friday, Dec. 2 to Sunday, Dec. 4. Niagara resumes dual meet competition in January.
