NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara volleyball team will host its final home games of the season this weekend with a match against Quinnipiac on Saturday and Fairfield on Sunday.

The Purple Eagles bounced back from a three-match losing streak to beat rival Canisius on Wednesday, resulting in a season sweep of the Golden Griffins. In the match against Canisius, Nicole Matheis recorded 15 kills, making it her sixteenth match of the season with double-digit kills. She also tacked on three service aces, giving her her fourth match of the campaign with three or more aces. Senior Alex Stone has logged in at least one total block in every match this season except one. Alexis Gray posted her 11th double-double of the season in the win against the Golden Griffins, posting 35 assists and 12 digs.

The Purple Eagles continue to progress in service aces, now ranking seventh in the country in team service aces with 173.

The Purple Eagles are 8-6 in conference play and are fourth in the standings. Niagara leads the MAAC with 173 aces and 1.8 aces per set. Alexis Gray leads the MAAC in aces with 45 and aces per set with .47. She is 13 aces away from tying her own program record of 58 set last season.

The Purple Eagles will honor four-year starter Alex Stone on Sunday during their senior day ceremony.
