BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo volleyball team will close out their home schedule on Thursday night when they host Akron at Alumni Arena.  The match will start at 7 p.m., which is a change from the other start times this year.

The Bulls are looking to end their home season on a high note and sweep the season series from Akron, who UB defeated in five sets earlier this year.   Cassie Shado continues to lead the Bulls and now leads the entire Mid-American Conference in hitting percentage, hitting .402 on the year, which is currently 13th nationally. She is second on the team in kills with 199, behind sophomore Valisha Watkins, who has 213.  Fellow sophomore Megan Wernette is third on UB with 184 kills and leads the team with 86 blocks.  Shado is right behind her with 81.  Freshman setter Scout McLerran has 841 assists and 24 service aces, while defensively freshman Hannah Watson has a team-high 359 digs.  She is followed by 195 from McLerran and 171 from freshman Maddie Torbeck.

Akron is 7-17 on the year and is tied with Buffalo with a 2-10 MAC record.  The Zips are being led by Patience Brown, who has 214 kills and 61 blocks, while Kayla Gwozdz has added 211 kills and Madi Baer chips in 180.  Karley Kusan leads the Akron offense with 875 assists, while Abbey Pawlak and Callie Mack each have 31 service aces.  Brenna Mack leads the Zips with 346 digs.

Prior to the match on Thursday night, the Bulls will honor their lone senior, fifth-year senior Amber Hatchett.  Festivities will get underway at approximately 6:55 p.m.
