NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara Purple Eagles continue their five-match homestand versus local rival Canisius on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Niagara currently stands at 5-2 at home this season. Alexis Gray and Nicole Matheis lead the Purple Eagles in double-doubles so far this season. Gray has recorded 10 while teammate Matheis has posted nine. Rylee Hunt is looking to continue her stellar streak of double-digit digs to 23 consecutive matches.

Alexis Gray sits five service aces away from tying Tammy Greek (’93) for second all-time in service aces for Niagara. Alex Stone rests at third all-time in total blocks, and is 30 away from tying Greek second all-time.

The Purple Eagles have moved into the top-10 in the country in team service aces, ranking tied for 10th with 165 service aces on the season. Alexis Gray has continued up the NCAA ladder in service aces as well, now ranking sixth with 45 total service aces.

The Battle of the Bridge is the all-sport competition between Niagara and Canisius. Through four competitions, Canisius leads 6-1, with the one point coming volleyball. The winner of Wednesday’s match receives one point.
