PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –  The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team continued its success at the ITA Northeast Regionals on Friday with a number of victories in both singles and doubles play.

In doubles, Ethan Nittolo and Hao Sheng Koay won their match in the qualifying draw, joining their teammates in the main draw.  Once reaching the main draw, Nittolo and Koay picked up an upset victory over Kuhar and Kliger from Bryant, 8-6. Also picking up first round wins on Friday were Filip Grbic and Villhelm Fridell, who won their first match 8-5 and Petr Vodak and Vidit Vaghela, who won their opening match easily, 8-1.

In singles action, Fridell won his opening match, 6-3, 6-0, while Vaghela continued his strong run with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Funk from the host Penn Quakers. Nittolo won his opening match 6-2, 6-3 and Koay received a first round bye. Vodak and Grbic both lost their first round matches.

Action continues Saturday at Penn with doubles matches set to kick off the day, followed by two rounds of singles play.
