After improving to 5-0 at home this season with wins over Iona and Manhattan last weekend, the Purple Eagles face archrival Canisus on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Niagara is currently on a three-match win streak, as well as winning five of its last six matches.
Madison May has had double-digit kills during the three-match win streak. Two Purple Eagles lead the team in double-doubles; Alexis Gray posted her eighth of the season in the win against Manhattan, with teammate Nicole Matheis recording her seventh against Manhattan as well.
Libero Rylee Hunt is on a 19-match streak of double-digit digs. Niagara is entering the match off a tied season-high in digs in the win against Manhattan with 66.
Alexis Gray is now tied for third all-time in service aces (122) with Hannah Hedrick. She is 17 behind Tammy Greek for second. Rylee Hunt currently stands at fourth all-time in digs (1,442) for the Purple Eagles, and is 43 digs away from tying Hedrick for third all-time. Alex Stone is 38 blocks short of being tied second all-time on the total blocks list with Tammy Greek.
Nicole Matheis ranks seventh in the MAAC in kills, averaging 3.03 kills per set, with teammate Madison May ranking eighth averaging 2.92 kills per set. Alexis Gray ranks second in service aces for the MAAC, averaging 0.43 aces per set, and sixth in assists, with an average of 7.29 assists per set. Alex Stone sits at third in blocks for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, with an average of 0.95 blocks per set. Rylee Hunt rests at fifth in the MAAC in digs, averaging 4.37 digs per set.
Niagara is 33-32 all-time against Canisius. The Purple Eagles are 8-2 in their last 10 matches with Canisius, including sweeping the series last season. Niagara is 6-1 in its last seven trips to Canisius (lone defeat was in 2013). Canisius’ Katlyn Tyler currently ranks third in the MAAC in kills (3.17 kills per set) and points (3.48 points per set).
