ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team continued play at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, placing a number of players into the respective finals on Sunday.

In the “A” singles flight, junior Tanja Stojanovska moved in to the finals after she defeated her teammate Chantal Martinez Blanco, 6-4, 6-3. Earlier in the day, freshman Emil Abibula lost in the semifinals in three sets.  Stojanovska will face Shreya Pasrischa from Fairleigh Dickinson in the finals on Sunday.

In the “B” flight, sophomore Mercedes Losada Rubio defeated Katherine Muzik of Rutgers, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the finals, and in the “C” flight, freshman Anna Savchenko defeated Josie Rogers of Navy 6-0, 6-3 to clinch a spot in the finals.

In doubles action, Stojanovska and Margarita Kotok moved in to the “A” doubles final with a pair of 6-4 victories on Saturday. Abibula and Losada Rubio won their first match on Saturday in the “B” doubles bracket before falling in the semifinals.  In the “C” doubles flight, Sanjana Sudhir and Haley Hollins won their first match 6-4, before falling in the semifinals.

Action will conclude at the Navy Invitational on Sunday morning.
