The University at Buffalo volleyball team will continue a three-match homestand this weekend as the Bulls will host Miami (OH) on Friday evening and Bowling Green on Saturday. Both matches are set to get underway at 6 p.m.

The Bulls are 1-3 in MAC play following a tightly contested 3-0 loss last Saturday against Ball State. Junior Cassie Shado was named the MAC East Player of the Week though following the weekend as she had a career-high 22 kills in the win at Akron.  Sophomore Megan Wernette has also be extremely impressive over the last five matches, hitting well over .400 for Buffalo.  Freshman Scout McLerran continues to lead the offense with 514 assists and 17 service aces, and fellow freshman Hannah Watson has a team-high 251 digs.  Wernette is the leading blocker with 60, followed by Shado’s 51.

Miami (OH) enters Friday’s match as the hottest team in the Mid-American Conference with a 12-4 record and a 4-0 conference mark. After opening the season 1-4, Miami has won 11 straight matches and has not dropped a set since Sep. 9 at Auburn.  The RedHawks are led by Katie Tomasic, who has a team-high 146 kills and is hitting .305 on the year.  She is one of four Miami players with over 100 kills.  Maris Below is second on the team with 135 kills.  Maeve McDonald leads the digging attack for Miami with 261 on the year, while Paige Hill is the leading blocker with 47.

Bowling Green is 11-6 entering its match against Akron on Friday night and 1-3 in MAC play following a 3-1 win over Kent State on Saturday. Jelena Sunjic leads the Falcons with 209 kills and a .351 hitting percentage, while Alyssa Maloney has 179 kills and is hitting .334.  Katie Scholten leads BG with 543 assists, while libero Madeline Garda is averaging 6.38 digs per set, which currently leads the nation.
