LOUDONVILLE — The Niagara women’s soccer team was defeated by Siena on Wednesday afternoon.

Siena got on the board early, scoring its first goal of the game, which was lofted over Niagara goalkeeper Samuels’ head, in the 12th minute. The Saints took a 2-0 lead in the 30th minute.
Amanda Gallo followed up in the 31st minute with Niagara’s first shot of the game; her shot went high. Siena continued its offensive momentum, scoring its third and fourth goals in the 37th and 43rd minutes. Following a corner kick from Kelsey Lafferty in the 44th minute, Assia Sidhoum tried to put one in the goal for the Purple Eagles, but her shot was saved by Siena’s keeper.

The Purple Eagles created chances early in the second period, with shots from both Laura Ortiz and Sidhoum in the first seven minutes of the half. Unfortunately, neither shot hit its intended target.
Niagara had a great chance in the 81st minute to get points on the board; with no Saints defenders around her, Shawnique Samuels had the ball and took a shot which looked to be right on target, but the Saints keeper made a leaping save to keep the Purple Eagles scoreless.

The Purple Eagles head to Monmouth to take on the Hawks at noon on Saturday.
