The Canisius volleyball team lost for the third consecutive match Sunday afternoon, being swept by MAAC rival Fairfield in straight sets. With the loss the Blue and Gold move to 3-12 overall, while going 1-5 in MAAC play.

The Griffs kept things close in the early going of set one, trailing 9-7, before ultimately losing the set 25-12. The Stags would go on a 5-0 run to close out the set. The Blue and Gold struggled to find their bearings again in set two, losing 25-13. The Golden Griffins were tied with Fairfield 5-5, before the Stags would go on a 20-8 run to close out the set.

In the third and final set of the match, the Griffs fought back, pulling within four points on four different occasions down the strecth (17-13, 18-14, 19-15, and 21-17), but it was not enough however, as Fairfield closed the match with a 25-19 set win.

For the Griffs, senior Jacklyn Malusa led the team in kills (6), while freshman Cassidy Ceriani had a team-high 14 assists.

The Blue and Gold will look to rebound, when they return to the Koessler Athletic Center next weekend to take on Manhattan and Iona. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. start times.
