TOLEDO, Ohio – The Niagara University men’s tennis team competed at the Rocket Invitational over the weekend, facing off against Wright State, Case Western, Detroit and Valparaiso in the hidden dual format invitational.

The doubles team of Josh Wilson and Felipe Fuentes was selected as the doubles MVP. The pair went 2-2 with wins over Case Western and Detroit. Felipe Fuentes picked up Niagara’s lone win in the dual with Wright State by defeating Clement Charriere, 6-2, 6-3.

Also in doubles, the tandem of Taylan Ozdemir and Francis Nadeau defeated Wright State’s Ryan Carlson and Harvey Reed, 6-3. In the match against Case Western, Fuentes and Wilson defeated David Zakohdin and Anthony Kanam, 6-4. Fuentes also picked up a singles win over Josh Dughih, 6-4.

In singles play, Nadeau outlasted Detroit’s Kacper Stelmaszack, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7

The Purple Eagles will play at Daemen College for their first dual match of the fall season on Wednesday.
