ATHENS, Ohio –  The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped its MAC contest at Ohio on Saturday evening, 3-0.

The Bobcats took the match 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 despite the Bulls outhitting Ohio, .228 to .225.  UB had a 16-14 lead following a kill from Cassie Shado, but six straight points gave the Bobcats a 20-16 advantage.  UB pulled back within 24-22, but Ohio took the set 25-22.

Ohio got out to an early 10-4 lead in the second on the way to a 25-17 win and in the third set, the Bulls trailed 18-12 when they scored four straight points to pull within 18-16. The Bulls remained down two at 24-22 again, but got no closer as Ohio clinched the set and the match.

Sophomore Megan Wernette again led the Bulls with nine kills and no errors on 10 swings as she hit .900 for the match. Freshman Rachel Sanks added six kills and Madison Clark and Shado each added five. Freshman Scout McLerran led the way with 23 assists.

Defensively, Hannah Watson had a team-high 10 digs and Clark, McLerran and Sanks each finished with six.  UB had 10.0 total blocks, led by five from Shado.

UB will conclude its season-opening 16-match road trip on Thursday night at Akron.
