The Niagara University Purple Eagles women’s volleyball team will continue conference play at home with matches against Rider on Saturday and Saint Peter’s on Sunday.

The Purple Eagles are coming off of two tough back to back conference losses, in which the Saints of Siena won 3-1 (9/17), and the Red Foxes of Marist won 3-2 (9/18). In their match against Siena, senior Alex Stone became Niagara’s all-time leader in block assists (291), and is now third all-time in total blocks (362). Junior Nicole Matheis recorded a season-high 23 kills in the five-set match against Marist, and tacked on a team season-high 25.5 points. Alexis Gray posted back to back double-doubles in last weekend’s matches, with 37 assists and 15 digs against Siena, and 22 assists and 15 digs against Marist. Libero Rylee Hunt has had 12 consecutive matches with double-digit digs.

The Purple Eagles are tied for 43rd in the nation in service aces (79), with junior Alexis Gray tied for 26th in the NCAA with 22 aces. Alexis Gray is three aces away from tying Erin Graham (’05) for fifth all-time (114) in Niagara’s history. Rylee Hunt is 49 digs away from tying Kelly Cruttenden (’97) for fourth all-time (1,401).

Niagara is 19-11 all-time against Rider and 19-22 all-time against Saint Peter’s.
