NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara University men’s golf team kicks off its fall season at the Navy Fall Classic at the United States Naval Academy Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.

The Purple Eagles, who return eight players from their 2015-16 squad, will tee off on the par-72 course at 8:30 a.m. on both Sunday and Monday and will play 18 holes each day. Other teams competing in the 12-team tournament include California University (Pa.), Delaware, Drexel, Goldey-Beacom, Lafayette, LeMoyne, McDaniel, Robert Morris, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Francis Brooklyn, Saint Joseph’s and Wagner.

The Purple Eagles, who finished seventh at the MAAC Championships in the spring, were led by Daniel Weimer. Weimer, who carded a total score of 222 (+6), finished in sixth place. He fired a 70 (-2) in the final round of the tournament, which was his best 18-hole score of both the fall and spring seasons.
