ROCHESTER — Buffalo State rallied for two shots on goal in the final minute of play, but dropped a hard-fought effort on the road to the No. 14 ranked University of Rochester, 1-0 this evening.

The two sides played to a 0-0 tie at the end of the first half, with the U. of Rochester holding a 6-1 edge in shots. Jeff Greblick and the Yellowjackets broke through in the 53rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Bass Sarr (New York/JREC) had the best chance of the night for the Bengals, but ripped his shot off the crossbar with just a minute left in regulation. Buffalo State was able to produce one more shot in the 90th minute, but it sailed high, sealing the U. of Rochester victory. William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton) finished with seven saves for the Bengals.

Buffalo State returns home on Friday against D’Youville. The Bengals follow it with another contest on Saturday against visiting Clarkson.  Both games are set to start at 4 p.m. at Coyer Field.
