John “Jack” Patrick Hinton passed away August 18, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Lockport on June 8, 1933 he was the son of Charles J. and Rosleen B. (Fullerton) Hinton, Sr.

Jack attended Niagara University and worked as the County Deputy Superintendent of Highways from 1969-1977 and served as “ex-officio” on Legislatures Highway, parks, solid waste and planning and industrial development committees. He also served as a representative of the county to the Erie & Niagara Regional Planning board and Niagara Frontier Transportation Committee, acting as chairman of the NFTA planning and coordinating committee in 1976. Jack was commended for his leadership during the “Blizzard of ’77” coordinating federal, state and local cleanup operations. He is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor owned and operated his own business, “JPH Land Surveyors” from 1988 to present. Jack was a lifetime member of St. John’s RC Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, was a Korean War Veteran belonging to the Veteran of Foreign Wars and also the American Legion for many years. More importantly Jack enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and of course working.

Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra M. (Crane) Hinton; father of Timothy J. Hinton, Thomas C. (Mary Ellen) Hinton, Ann M. (Leo) Brady, Andrew P. (Julie) Hinton, Dudley E. Hinton, and David F. Hinton; grandfather of Christina M. Sanchez, Nathan E. Brady, Andrew T. Hinton, Brian D. Hinton, Meghan K. Hinton, Luke H. Hinton, Jeffrey D. Hinton, Karrie E. Hinton, Allison M. Hinton, and Austin W. Hinton; great grandfather of Isabella Rose Sanchez; brother of the late Charles J. (Agnes) Hinton, Jr.; and his special in-laws for always being there and all their help through the years for him and Sandra, Kathy Rucci, Paula J. (Paul) Mayers, Carla M. Crane, Carl F. (Donna) Crane; also several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, Aug. 21st from 1-5 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 22nd at 10 AM in St. John’s RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
