WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins is one of a number of Congressional Democrats participating in a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Higgins took to Facebook moments ago to declare a significant “life event,” deciding that “enough is enough.”
The Buffalo congressman’s Facebook status with the “event” states that “Silence and inaction, as innocent people continue to lose their lives, is unacceptable. Today I join Rep. John Lewis and other colleagues in calling for a vote on common sense gun legislation.”
Dozens of Democratic representatives took control of the House floor late this morning, refusing t cede the floor to Republicans until the House votes on gun control. A week ago, Democrats in the Senate engaged in a filibuster on the topic.
