BUFFALO — A 35-year-old Buffalo man is facing burglary and drug charges after he was allegedly found living in his former Alden apartment building — and in possession of drugs.

According to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard, Darren Frayne was arrested around 8 p.m. after ECSO deputies responded to a call from the landlord of the building. Frayne, who was evicted on May 23, was discovered to be living in his former apartment and using an extension cord to utilize electricity from an adjacent building. When questioned by deputies, Frayne admitted he was not supposed to be in the apartment.  Deputies proceeded to search the apartment for additional squatters and during that search, discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Frayne was charged with one count of felony burglary, three counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor charge of illegal use of utility services.
