The price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the Rochester and Buffalo areas has dropped a penny in the last week, according to AAA Western and Central New York. That gallon costs $2.41 in Buffalo and $2.38 in Rochester.

While national gas prices have dropped a nickel, prices in New York State are down just a penny — to $2.44 per gallon. One year ago, the New York State average was $2.96.

Thanks to strong refinery production, crude oil prices and an abundant supply, gas prices are down and that’s great news for summer travelers. Americans are expected to travel in numbers not seen in a decade. According to a recent AAA survey, 55 percent of Americans say they are more likely to take a road trip this year due to lower gas prices.
