BUFFALO — The Central Termin8er Bike Race and Festival held Friday through Sunday, will kick off Friday night with the art party, “Propulsion” which will include bike art and local artists.

Friday night’s line-up includes and art gallery, slam poetry, a fashion show with local and international designers, drumming by the African American Cultural Center, break dancing performances by Differential Flava Crew, of Verve Dance Studio, a track-stand bicycle competition, dancing and more.

The Termin8er main race, held on Saturday, will be run in heats and is open to anyone, on any bike. The race will pit expert against expert, beginner with beginner, allowing racers to even challenge their friends, if they way. Prizes and awards will be given out according to points accumulation and will reflect the skill levels of riders.  The official schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday

  • 9 a.m.  Course officially opens
  • 10 a.m. Qualifying rounds begin
  • 1 p.m. Gobike Kids’ Rodeo (All kids are free)
  • 2 p.m. Team Relay
  • 4 p.m. Termin8er Finals
  • 5:30 p.m. Awards Ceremony

Sunday

  • 9 a.m. Course opens for Community Ride (Free)
  • 10 a.m. Side competitions begin
  • 4 p.m. Ride to after party at the HandleBar Pub, 149 Swan Street

Alternative urban racing has a 30-year tradition of inclusive racing and the Central Termin8er has attracted participants from Boston, Brooklyn, Washington, DC, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
