BUFFALO — A 27-year-old West Seneca man was charged with arson on Friday, accused of removing items from an Elma residence and then setting them on fire.

According to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard, Sean Myers allegedly entered the residence on Seneca Street in Elma, removed items, and then set the pile of items on fire. When Erie County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the residence, they observed a couch and numerous items burning near the dwelling. Myers reportedly made multiple trips into the residence bringing more items out and throwing them on the fire.

Deputies and detective made contact with Myers inside the dwelling and observed a crack pipe with residue on a table. Subsequently, Myers was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He is held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
