BUFFALO — The family of the Lancaster man identified as the victim of a fatal fall this weekend asks he be honored via charitable donation in lieu of flowers as the community mourns their loss and questions how this tragedy could have occurred.

24 year old Thomas Krickovich – Lancaster High School graduate, alumni of Saint John Fischer College and graduate student in the Physician’s Assistant Program at Daemen College – was attending a student-sponsored event at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery Friday night when he is reported to have fallen from the 4th floor balcony.

Krickovich sustained significant head trauma, and was taken to Buffalo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Pearl Street has been advised to make no statements regarding the incident. The popular Downtown night spot has for years been a go-to venue for large gatherings and events, much like the party Krickovich was attending.

The Buffalo Police Department has released no official statement on the cause of the incident, but the @BPDAlerts Twitter post (link) from early Saturday morning states, “BREAKING: BPD investigating if death last night of a 24 year old male at Pearl Street Grill was the result of an accidental fall.” The statement released Daemen College goes further, saying, “The Buffalo Police Department does not suspect foul play.”

The college’s statement  (link) also “requests respect for the privacy and needs of the family, friends and Daemen students affected by this tragedy.” The Buffalo News reports that Krickovich’s mother, Susan, is chair of the education department at Daemen College, and also an associate professor.

Funeral arrangements have been announced through Amigone Funeral home (link) The family “gratefully declines” flowers, respectfully requesting donations to Hospice Buffalo (link) in their stead.
