BUFFALO — The Buffalo State Bengals picked up their second victory in a row, defeating D’Youville in four sets in the home opening match at the Buffalo State Sports Arena this evening.

Buffalo State started fast out of the gate, picking up a victory in the opening set, 25-16. The Bengals picked up right where they left off in set two, again running away with a 25-16 victory to go up two sets to none.

D’Youville fought hard in game three to pick up a back-and-forth 25-22 win. Buffalo State bounced right back, again picking up a 25-16 victory in the fourth set to seal its third victory of the season. The Bengals were able to pull away late in games due to their clutch serving.  Buffalo State held a 16-5 advantage in aces.

Lauren Hansen (Brooklyn/Midwood) was a force for Buffalo State at the net, finishing the evening with a match-high 17 kills. Meg Brandon (Flint, MI/Grand Blanc) was the team’s best playmaker, picking up 31 assists.
Hanna Cormier (Ft. Edward/Warhill) led the Bengals with five aces.

Buffalo State will head to Potsdam to take part in the Potsdam Invitational this weekend. The Bengals will play two games on both Friday and Saturday, kicking things off against SUNY Canton on Friday at 6 p.m.
