This exhibition chronicles the work of Lockport native Frank Penfold (1849-1921), a painter who was celebrated here and abroad during his lifetime but is largely forgotten today. With 30 works spanning more than 50 years, this is the most comprehensive exhibition of his paintings in over 100 years. Contextualizing Penfold’s work will be paintings by his WNY contemporaries, including Alexis Fournier, Claire Shuttleworth, and fellow Lockport artists Raphael Beck and Burr Nickolls.

The opening reception will be on Sunday, January 7, from 2 – 4 pm.

A “Cheers to Penfold” reception will be held on Friday, February 9, from 7 – 9:30 pm. Celebrate Frank Penfold’s first major exhibition in over a century with champagne, wine, cheese, and finger foods while learning about the paintings in the exhibit. Advance registration required.
