ROCHESTER, NY- The Buffalo Bisons were able to outlast the Rochester Red Wings 5-3 in 12 innings on Wednesday night at Innovative Field, despite not having a base hit for a majority of the game.

The Red Wings got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning when Travis Blankenhorn as he hit a single to right, scoring Jeter Downs, 1-0.

The Herd answered back in the top of the third inning as Spencer Horwitz tied the game at 1 a piece when he drove in Otto Lopez on a sharp line drive to center. Buffalo went in front 2-1 as Rafael Lantigua hit a hard ground ball to the third baseman Jake Alu.

Alu, who was playing at the back edge of the infield, made the play to first securing the second out of the inning. Horwitz easily scored from third and took the lead for the Bisons.

Yosver Zulueta came into the game in the sixth inning and showed off a stellar performance. Zulueta only faced three batters in his ten-pitch inning. The three up three down inning resulted in a Jake Noll strikeout and two pop-outs to the infield.

The bottom of the seventh resulted in Rochester tied the game 2-2. Richie Martin started the two-out rally for the Red Wings as Lopez dropped the ball making a tough dive. The next batter, Alu, walked and put Martin in scoring position. Rochester earned their second run of the game when Downs drove in Martin on a line drive to Otto Lopez.

Paul Fry Took the game into extras when he secured three outs for the Herd in the bottom of the ninth. While he did allow two outs putting runners at first and second, the defense came up clutch as the red wings batter hit the ball in play resulting in two ground outs and a flyout.

Buffalo regained control in the bottom of the tenth thanks to a wild pitch by pitcher Luis Reyes. The first pitch of the at-bat was thrown to Davis Schneider with one out and the bases loaded. The pitch sailed to the right of catcher, Jacob Nottingham, and Cameron Eden scored taking the lead 3-2.

Rochester answers back in the bottom of the 10th as Noll hit a deep fly ball over the head of Spencer Horwitz. Drew Millas, the automatic runner, keeps the game alive as he ties the game 3-3.

The first play of the bottom of the 11th inning resulted in a groundout where first baseman LJ Talley tossed the ball to pitcher Matt Peacock to make the out at first. However, after stepping on the bag, Peacock and baserunner Alu collide causing Peacock to leave the game with an apparent left leg injury.

Peacock kept the game alive as he threw the ball home while lying on the ground in pain as he prevents the runner at third from home. Peacock, who could not place any weight on his leg, was then carted off of the field. Trent Thornton took his place on the mound and secured the final two outs of the inning.

Eden crossed home plate, propelling Buffalo into the lead, as he scored on an RBI single from Tanner Morris in the bottom of the 12th inning. The Herd now holds a 4-3 advantage. Adding to their lead, the Bisons secured an insurance run as Morris dashed home on a wild pitch. With this additional run, the score now stands at 5-3 in favor of the Bisons.

Rochester attempted another comeback in the bottom of the 12th inning as Nottingham delivered a single to left-center field, bringing Blake Rutherford home. However, the Red Wings still find themselves trailing 5-4.

Buffalo clinched the victory in their marathon four-hour-long game by recording a decisive strikeout in the bottom of the 12th inning. The third game of the six-game series in Rochester is set to commence at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday night at Innovative Field.
