Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another EP review! This time I have Crystal Shroud by Splitfuse. They released this on November 4th, 2025.
I’m mad I missed this last year, but so glad I had someone reach out with Splitfuse. This metalcore, djent and prog influenced project is really good. I definitely hear their influences all over the place in this EP but they manage ti put their own spin on it all.
My favorite track is Defy the Odds. It starts off with an electronic keyboard part that builds quickly into a rapid riff that sets the tone for the track. The riff get slowly more dissonant before bringing in a super chuggy riff that gives me the “stank face” everytime I hear it. Then the kicker of the track for me is the chorus which has some super haunting choices in notes for the clean vocals.
So overall I would give Crystal Shroud a 8.5/10 and I really like it. I’m really glad I had someone reach out to me with this since I unfortunately missed it last year! As always links to socials and streaming will be below.
